Mock Hot Chocolate Drink
Description
Enjoy this sweet, warming drink when you need a cool-weather pick-me-up! Carob comes from the seed pods of a locust tree and is rich in many nutrients. It’s delicious as a natural sweetener and a chocolate alternative in hot drinks, puddings, cookies and pies.
Ingredients
1 tbsp
carob powder 1⁄4 tsp
corn starch 6 oz
water (or nondairy milk, such as soy or almond) to taste
vanillaInstructions
Mix the carob powder and cornstarch in the water (or milk) until smooth.
Heat the ingredients, stirring occasionally, and add a drop of vanilla just before serving.
Notes
Because it is an excellent source of pectin, it's used to sooth tummy ailments.
