Elderflower, basil, and lemon cucumber brighten this warm-weather cocktail from Amy Stewart, author of The Drunken Botanist: The Plants That Create the World’s Great Drinks.
Stewart's book tracks the endless ways humans have turned plants into delicious drinks. She shares this original recipe ahead of her talk at Bastyr's Herb and Food Fair, May 31, 2014.
Watch her make an Herbarium in her backyard cocktail garden:
- Squeeze lemon into cocktail shaker and add the gin, elderflower liqueur, cucumber and basil.
- Muddle cucumber and basil.
- Add ice, shake, and strain into a tall, skinny Collins glass filled with ice.
- Top with club soda and add garnish.
